Umdali refers to the Xhosa word for “creator”. Lwando Dlamini sees this painting as a representation and reflection on how an artist creates a certain perspective for his audience.
About the artist
Lwando Dlamini was born in the Eastern Cape but moved to the Western Cape as a young child. He currently lives and works between Cape Town and Johannesburg. He graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Ruth Prowse School of Art and was awarded the 2018 David Koloane award.
