Lwando Dlamini’s work explores the fragility of the human body and experience. This body of 6 works reinforces self awareness, and the importance of reflecting on the difficult fragments of our past which can be a discomforting experience.

About the work
This painting is inspired by the song by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, titled BlackBoy Fly. Dlamini used to listen to this song as an art student, which inspired and motivated him: a reminder and promise of his potential and how much more he can do as an artist.
About the artist
Lwando Dlamini was born in the Eastern Cape but moved to the Western Cape as a young child. He currently lives and works between Cape Town and Johannesburg. He graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Ruth Prowse School of Art and was awarded the 2018 David Koloane award.
